Why People Smoke
Some people cant stop smoking because it is so addictive; that's the number one reason people smoke. Scientist say it is more addictive then cocaine, alcohol, and heroin. I believe it!!! i have seen people try to quit they say its not easy. People have said they cant quit because after smoking a cigarette they like the rush. They also don't want to quit because they don't like the withdrawal. it causes cravings and difficulty sleeping. 70% of the people that quit smoking will start up again.
Tobacco industries also influence people, especially teens to smoke. They do this with movies, TV, and billboards. They make smoking look harmless and fun. Some people think that by smoking they will stay thin. THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! Its not the cigarette that is keeping you thin, its really just because smoking reduces their sense in taste so they don't eat as much because it is not as enjoyable.
smoking causes a psychological dependency. People smoke because it helps them relax, cope, gain self confidence, and others when they feels board. For some people it creates the feeling of satisfaction. The last thing is that people who smoke tell them self its not that bad for them even when they know what it is doing to them.
Smoking is also a social activity. Teens smoke mostly because of peer pressure. Smoking also makes kids feel more mature and some smoke as a way to rebel against their parents.
It is a proven fact that most kids who have parents that smoke will end up smoking! So parents remember please don't smoke around us kids!!!!

What I Think About Second hand Smoking
I think that if someone is choosing not to smoke then that is their choose. They shouldn't have to be exposed to the toxins in public areas. I think smoking shouldn't be a choose, it should be illegal. I dont understand why people still smoke even after the education we are given on the effects on smoking.
Second Hand Smoke
Secondhand smoking is almost as dangerous as smoking. Second hand smoke increases the risk of heart disease and lung cancer. The only place you can be risk free from secondhand smoke is a smoke free environment. Just last year 3 thousand nonsmokers died of lung cancer, 46 thousand from heart disease, and 430 hundred newborns died from sudden infant death syndrome. In secondhand smoke there are 50 cancer-causing chemicals. This may cause various heath issues in a wide variety in age.
